my work

Still searching for my life's mission and purpose. Here's a summary of my work so far.

Settlus

Software Engineer, 2022 - Present

In 2022, my team and I began working on Settlus. I've written in detail about Settlus in my blog post "Settlus". I was always interested in crypto, but I never imagined I would be a blockchain protocol dev. It's an interesting field with a lot of potential, and I am glad I chose to join this field.

What began as a small team of three engineers and a CEO in 2022 has grown into a company of over 150 employees in just over two years. Being able to witness an explosive growth of a startup from the very beginning has been an invaluable experience.

PUBG Corporation

Data Engineering Team Lead, 2020 — 2022

PUBG Corporation is a South Korean video game company behind the popular battle royale game Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. I started as the first data engineer for a new mobile game, PUBG: New State. As our team expanded to 10 engineers, I was promoted to lead the data engineering team.

During my two-year tenure, I worked on several fun data engineering tasks, including:

  • Managing and processing terabytes of daily logs
  • Overseeing multiple Kubernetes clusters
  • Developing real-time data serving APIs
  • Designing efficient data schemas for our data warehouse

As a gaming nerd who played a lot of PUBG, it was really exciting to work at PUBG. Starting from an empty repo and a fresh AWS account to a fully functioning data pipeline was a great experience. Thankfully, they let me lead a team while I only had a couple years of experience. Because of that I was able to learn a lot about communication, leadership, and of course software engineering.

Bagelcode

Data Engineer, 2019 — 2020

Bagelcode is a mobile gaming company in Seoul, South Korea. I was part of a data engineering team responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines to support our mobile games.

my education

I am currently on leave from the University of California, San Diego. I returned to Korea for my mandatory military service. During my stay in Korea, I found some interesting things to work on. Not sure if I will ever go back to finish my degree.
